The Pacific is the core geographic focus for the New Zealand Aid Programme. Over half of New Zealand’s total aid goes to this region. The Pacific includes some of the world’s smallest and most isolated states. The region faces a range of economic and social development challenges, and much of the region is vulnerable to natural disasters.
The Pacific is New Zealand’s own neighbourhood, and New Zealand has the cultural, economic, and social links with the region that can influence positive change.
Along with these programmes, New Zealand provides support to the Pacific through other thematic programmes and partnerships. For a full list of all the programmes making up the New Zealand Aid Programme, please see the Programme framework.
